Caldas de rei- March 28

 Stayed at Pousada Real in Caldas de Reis. What a gem of a place. Met some great people over drinks in the garden, and a hotel staff member told us about the  gold treasure that had been discovered nearby. Seeing a lot more people walking now, and getting so close to Santiago!

    Good morning from winter peg we are expecting snow/rain for the next 2 days.
    I have tried messaging a few times and isn't working.
    Looks like you two are having a fabulous time and the food looks amazing

 Well we made it. Don’t have a lot of news, so just going to give my impression of things so far. It’s fairly easy to fly to Europe now.  Flights were very full and everyone wearing n95 masks.  If you are going to Germany be careful, the PCR  test must be  48 hours not 72 hours before. We were in transit in Frankfurt  so no problem,  but if you are just flying to Germany be careful.   On arrival in Portugal we had a random vaccine card check and you also need to fill in a passenger locator form on line. They asked for it in both SFO and Porto. Our seat mate was a lovely Iranian  woman who hadn’t been back  home for  5 years . She was very excited and still had another long flight after we all departed in Frankfurt. We were all one row behind business class. So yes we did the walk of shame past those lay down seats in business and watched them get their damn champagne. They ran out of  good  food choices for us,  ...

Porto the return

 We arrived back in Porto on what I like to call the Flix bus COVID express. Very bad masking and hot packed bus. That was last night. We did our COVID tests today. Negative  so far- so we can fly back. If COVID does  appear at least we will be back in the States.  Have a nice apt here for a few nights where all the action is near the station. We are all packed up off to airport early in morning. Sigh. Tons of group tours  here, lots of people traveling. It’s a whole other world out here! So glad we came!
