Barcelos vibes

 Chilling out in Barcelos….

So, I’m traveling with Peter this time, we are not staying  in alburgues.  Not missing  being woken up at 5 am  by those bag rustlers, climbing up to a top bunk and listening to snoring.

Yes, I’ll admit it we took a taxi from Vila do Conde to Rates this morning. Glad we did to that too, as parts  of the road really  did look dangerous. Saw some people walking, I almost ducked down.

The walk from Rates to Barcelos was quite nice. There was a nice coffee shop someplace early where we met a few other people walking. More people than I expected to see really. Starting to meet the same people all day which is nice .

Found a  place that does  decent burgers and sells strong beer for an  early dinner here in Barcelos . Peter was very happy.

I like the look of the town. Nice vibe. That rooster statue is really an omnipresent force here though. It’s got the same story as the one in Santa Domingo on the Camino Frances. Talk about miracles !

The Camino is very well-marked, people we’ve talked to very friendly and helpful. Prices are good. Weather has been lovely, but tomorrow’s forecast  is for rain. As long as it’s not a steady downpour, we’ll walk as much as possible. Need to see how waterproof the jackets are.

Unfortunately, water for bathtub  in the hotel is brown, so going to have to forego that. Oh well, we have  some Super Bock beer.
